Teeth Whitening treatment

Teeth Whitening treatments are one of the most commonly requested procedures due to it being a quick and affordable way to improve your smile. While there are many over the counter products that offer to whiten your teeth, treatments administered by your dentists are far more effective at giving you a beautiful clean smile. This is due to dentists being able to use stronger whitening solutions that offer superior results. Getting a Teeth Whitening Treatment done in Westport Connecticut has never been easier thanks to the Esthetic Dental Group of Westport. We’ve got your Teeth Whitening needs covered!

Brighten Up Your Day and Your Smile

The two main types of teeth whitening treatments we offer are in-office, or take-home teeth whitening kits. With in-office whitening we use a bleaching process which has proven to be the quickest way to whiten teeth. When a patient comes in for the procedure, we will apply the whitening product directly to the teeth. The results are seen after a single treatment, which will take between 1 to 2 hours. If you are unable to attend an office appointment, we also offer take-home whitening kits.
These kits use prescription bleaching gel and are designed to be used at home over a period of time. Treatment regimens usually last about two weeks. The kits prescribed by your dentist are stronger, and offer better results than the over the counter alternatives.

Some Myths About Teeth Whitening

Myth: You can whiten your teeth using baking soda!
Fact: Not true. Using baking soda can disrupt the ratio of good to bad bacteria in your mouth.

Myth: Whitening gels and toothpaste work just as well as professional dental treatments!
Fact: While those whitening gels and toothpastes may have whitening properties or chemicals in them, they don’t work well enough to truly make much of a difference. They’d need to be in your mouth for at least 20 minutes or longer in order to make a noticeable difference.

Myth: Once teeth are whitened, they will stay white forever!
Fact: Actually, they won’t. While the color change is indeed permanent, the aging process is as well. We all age. It’s a natural process we all go through. So yellowing of the teeth may occur as you age naturally. This is why occasional touch-ups may be necessary 1-2 times per year.

Myth: Crowns and Veneers can be whitened!
Fact: Only your natural teeth can be whitened through treatments. If you wish to match your natural whitened teeth? You must replace the crowns as well.
